The goals of therapy are often aimed at increasing the level of self-control, coping with stress, increasing self-esteem, and improving the ability to form bonds with others and communicate effectively. Therapy is largely based on the "therapeutic alliance", which is a relationship between the client and the therapist that aims to aid the client in getting out of their difficult situation.
